Covid 19 night – curfew decreases theft in Maridi

Maridi County Police have released a report on Thursday indicating reduction of criminal activities in the County as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown measures to curb the spread of the diseases.
In a press statement, Maridi County police inspector Emmanuel Laku said he had not registered any theft case since the beginning of this year, which was not the case with the previous years.
“ I want to tell you the truth that thief cases have reduced this year during this Covid 19 night curfew, because people steal at night and the night curfew has reduced that … so we have not got any report of thief from our markets and in the residential areas around Maridi as in the previews years,” he said.
Laku said they would make sure that crime was reduced in Maridi and that would be possible with the cooperation of the communities, in reporting crimes to the police.
“We are here for you and the police is not your enemy; help us to perform our duty to make peace to prevail in this county,” he said.
He urged the entire population of Maridi to leave their grievance aside and follow a way of peace, for everyone needs peace.
